The photobook «Punta Querandí: community territory and the advance of private neighborhoods», by photographer Leandro Crovetto and published by Bulbo – Editorial Artesanal, will be presented on Wednesday, May 7, from 18:00 to 20:00 at La Libre (Chacabuco 917, CABA). The project proposes a reflection on identity, memory, and the connection to the land.
The book is the result of a documentary work that began in 2018 and depicts the active defense of the territory by the Indigenous Community of Punta Querandí, located in the Tigre district. This territory is in an area with ancient Indigenous burial sites and wetlands, which are currently being threatened by the advance of mega real estate developments in Nordelta and Villa Nueva.
Photographer Leandro Crovetto, who is also an editor and audiovisual creator, is responsible for this photographic work. With studies in Image and Sound Design at UBA and Photojournalism at ARGRA School, his focus has been marked by social movements, the LGBTIQ+ collective, and territorial struggles. His work "The Chilean Awakening," about the mobilizations in Chile in 2019, has been recognized as a finalist in the Sony World Photography Awards 2020.
During the presentation at La Libre, there will be an audiovisual projection, a live exchange with the author, and the participation of members of the Indigenous Community of Punta Querandí. The book also includes texts from the community and a preface by researcher Marcelo Valko.
